Cabo Verde: Praia - Part One
Evening flights followed by early morning island hopping doesn't leave much time to explore, but a girl's gotta eat!
First we wandered across the road, past beautiful street art, to check out the options at the local. They were able to acccomodate vegetarians if we would settle for vegetable and rice (this would become a theme for us), so we decided to explore other options.
A quick internet search located an Italian place about a 20 minute walk away, so we set off down the hill. After a quick stop at a bakery for Portuguese sweet buns and juice for tomorrow's 5 a.m. start, we continued down the roads - enjoying the sidewalks and streetlights that are few and far between in Senegal - only to discover it the restaurant closed earlier than their posted hours. Resigned to veggies and rice, we turned around.
On the way down we had noticed a lively-looking spot for a drink, so halfway back up the hill - tummies grumbling - we decided to see whether they had any options for us. They primarily serve small plates with drinks, so the server went to speak to the chef who offered to make us a few options including bruschetta with or without cheese and fried sweet potatoes. We were loving the vibe, so we settled in and chef whipped up some munchies for us in the tiny kitchen.
The Air BnB was comfortable, with two bedrooms and a lovely sitting area and kitchen. (In hindsight, we should have booked it for our return later in the week.)
After a good night's sleep and a quick breakfast, we were off to the airport to board our flight to Fogo Island
